ABSTRACT

The ideal of justice surrounds us in everyday life and in scientific thought. We use the term a lot, but defining its meaning is not an easy task. It is no coincidence that philosophers since antiquity have been preoccupied with the question of what justice is. Over the millennia, the concept, which has become a guiding idea, has been interpreted from many different perspectives. The present study cannot, of course, aim at a full exploration of the innermost layers of justice. Rather, the aim of the authors is to interpret some of the legal and non-legal imprints of justice, reflecting in particular on the social threats that today pose a series of challenges to the pursuit of justice.
